Would You Buy a New Ford Lightning?

If ford builds a super charged V8 , Reg cab, 6.5 foot box I'll order 5 as personal and company trucks.
But ford won't because they want to force us to all drive little tiny 4 or 6 cylinder engines.
I'm pretty sure someday they will even kill the 5.0 in the regular f150s and I will just stop buying them as dodge builds some darn nice trucks as well.

WASHINGTON, DC – The Obama Administration today finalized groundbreaking standards that will increase fuel economy to the equivalent of 54.5 mpg for cars and light-duty trucks by Model Year 2025. When combined with previous standards set by this Administration, this move will nearly double the fuel efficiency of those vehicles compared to new vehicles currently on our roads. In total, the Administration’s national program to improve fuel economy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions will save consumers more than $1.7 trillion at the gas pump and reduce U.S. oil consumption by 12 billion barrels

I think the new (so far) Federal Government MPG mandate is why Ford went aluminum on the F150 and why they are veering away from V8's.

I believe they want to. It will be up to the public if this new mandate stays in place. Hopefully the up coming administration will alter or delete it. I am assuming this new MPG mandate will be as they have been in the past. Every single Ford sold will add to the 54.5 MPG tally. So the more high MPG vehicles sold means the V8 Mustangs and trucks are safe. Remember the 78/80 Ford Fiesta? Then later the Ford Aspire? Their sole purpose was the sale of those small sized but high MPG cars raised Ford's "average" MPG of all vehicles sold.
