Could Ford Engineers bring back SVT Lightning?

Should Ford bring back the SVT Lightning sport truck with the lightweight 2015 F150?

The Lightweight 2015 Ford F150 Could Result in a Stunningly Fast SVT Lightning - Torque News

What Engine Would Power the 20115 F150 SVT Lightning
The problem is that rumors indicate that the 6.2L V8 that powers the F150 Raptor is about to be discontinued so Ford would have to rely on some other engine to power the new Lightning. Fortunately, the 5.0L V8 that powers the new 2015 Ford Mustang GT is promised to deliver at least 420 horsepower and at least 390lb-ft of torque so with some light tuning from the SVT engineers – the heart of the Mustang GT would make for one nasty sport truck engine. Of course, there is also the possibility that the SVT-designed engine that will power the next generation Shelby Mustang could power the new Lightning and if that was the case, we can expect power figures that will blow away the older supercharged F150s.

I think that would make an awesome truck, especially if they bring lightning back with the supercharged 5.8.

it's going to be hard for a Gen 3 to match the Gen 2 as far as how far it seperated itself from the "normal F-150's"

and with the recent failure ("tremor") that all the uneducated individuals claimed was a gen 3 (which even ford says it wasn't), I doubt a Gen 3 will ever be a reality

I special ordered a 725-HP regular cab, short bed F-150 through Beechmont Ford in July of 2020. It was delivered to my driveway in September and the total drive-out price was $44,802.69. Since taking ownership, I've swapped out the 4.00-inch blower pulley for a 3.75-inch unit. This raised the boost pressure from 10 lbs. to 12 lbs. Horsepower is now at 770.

I owned a 2001 Lightning for 15 years and modified it to make 492 horsepower and 503 lbs-ft of torque. This supercharged 2020 Coyote F-150 would have destroyed my Lightning in a drag race. Easy 10s with slicks, cool air, and race gas. And for an added bonus, since it doesn't carry a special SVT vehicle ID number, insurance rates for a regular F-150 XL apply.

Santa Claus brought me an Autometer boost gauge, a digital wide band A/F gauge, and a two-port steering column pod for Christmas.
I'm planning on getting the installation done within the next couple of weeks. Pictures will follow.

Just special order the truck you want, that's what I did.
If you want a quad cab version, Beechmont or Lebanon Ford will build it.
Whatever it is that you want... even a lifted 4x4 quad cab if that's your style.

Beechmont Ford
