F700 starter/flywheel problems

Has anyone had starter/flywheel problems on an 88 F700 w/429 engine? I'm told my problem might possibly be the thin plate between the engine and tranny with the starter opening in it. This opening is getting larger I believe so the starter gear is not engaging properly with the flywheel teeth. My starter gear is worn badly and the flywheel is missing teeth in at least one spot. That explains all the noise when I tried to start it.

Talking Starter Problems

I had a 81 F700 with a 429 it too had starter issues. NAPA sells two different starter drives that will fit that starter one is a 9 tooth version the other is a 10 tooth drive. The 10 tooth is slightly larger in diameter and will solve the problem. Mine would start fine with a 9 tooth till it got some wear then would act like a slipping drive. Installing the 10 tooth fixed my problem permanently.
