The key difference here is the unlike debating the relative quality of different oil brands, or even filter filtration efficiencies, if you use non OEM filters and don't use the matching non OEM cap or use an OEM filter with a non OEM cap you WILL cause engine damage due to improper fit of the filter/cap.
