1987 Ford F150 Carburetor Conversion

Hi All,

I've been searching for this info for about a week now, but I can't seem to find a definative answer, so hopefully someone here can help.

I have a 1987 F150 that has either been converted to carburetor or has had the whole engine replaced. I've owned the truck for about 2 years, and last summer, it backfired through the carb and caught on fire. After rebuilding, it ran good for a while, then started running rough. Upon inspection, I discovered that the carb doesn't appear to be correct for the intake. There is about a 1/8" gap on the passenger side where the carb and spacer is not covering the PCV or maybe the EGR port (not sure which). Over time, the gases passing beside the spacer has melted and cracked the spacer between the carb and manifold. I tried to make a plate and use heat resistant gasket material to block it off, but when I tightened up the carb, it cracked the body. So now I'm trying to find the correct carb for this intake, but have not been having any luck. This is my first carbureted Ford, so I'm not knowledgeable with what I need.

The existing carb has a metal tag on top with the numbers C9UF A

Here is a pic of the gasket that matches the carb base

Here is a pic of the intake

Can anyone tell me what carb I need to fit this intake?

Thanks in advance...

James

A C9UF is from a '69 Bronco or Econoline with a 302 engine. Check the casting numbers on the engine… it may be a '69 engine.

Ford Autolite and Motorcraft 2100 carburetors

I'd buy a new Holley 500 two barrel to replace what you have. If you have an automatic make sure it has a Ford kick down lever...

what engine is in the truck? if it is a 351, they still had carbs in 87 on the larger trucks. not sure about the 150 though.

I believe it's a 302, according to the firing order cast into the intake. I'm the 3rd owner and according to the previous owner, the original owner had converted it from fuel injection to carburetor, but I'm thinking it may be a whole engine swap. I've been working a lot of overtime lately, but just as soon as I can make it home before dark, I'm going to crawl under and see if I can read the casting numbers on the block as krooser suggested. In my searching, I found an intake that matches mine and the info said it was for a '78 302 (D8AE942BA), but I'm guessing that intake will fit multiple year engines. I looked up the Holley carb mentioned, and it looks like it will work, but what do I do with the PCV port coming out of the back of the carb? Does it just circle back around to the breather? If so, I'll have to get a new breather, cause the one I have now isn't set up for it.

OK, I tried to find the casting numbers on the block, but I didn't have any luck. From what I've read, they are supposed to be above the starter, correct? I was able to find the following casting numbers on the intake

D8AE 9425 BA

block casting numbers should be above the starter.
but i have seen some "service blocks" otherwise known as dealer replacement engines with no block casting numbers.

the D8AE on the intake refers back to a 1978 casting.
