Replacing all body mount bushings

Hi all,

I've been noticing my Bronco creaking lately, so crawled under and looked around.

All my body mount bushings are super soft and pliable, some to the point where I can get my fingers between them and the body. Fortunately, none are rotted or missing. Just old.

So I'm going to replace them all with some polyurethane.

Does anyone have any suggestions on brands/kits to use?

Also are there any tips, tricks, gotchas, or the like that I should be aware of? Or is it a pretty straightforward job? Thanks.

Prothane is a good product.I suggest doing 1 side at the time. pretty easy job actually if the bolts are not rusted too badly.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't heard of Prothane but will look into them.

I don't think they're rusted too badly. Nothing beyond just 30 some years of regular oxidation. I'll probably soak them down every day with PB Blaster for a few days before I start.

So one side at a time? Like unbolt all of them and then jack up that side? Replace bushings, drop down, jack up other side?

That is the way I have done it. I have only changed out 2 sets but it worked well for me. Now if you have a 2 post lift...

If by" 2 post lift", you mean, "high lift jack" then yes!

The last time I changed a set of mounts, I loosened both sides, jacked up 1 side and changed out the mounts. Started the nuts on the bolts then switched sides. After both sides were changed out I tightened the bolts. Actually didnt take but about 3 hours. And 2 6 packs.

Sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Thanks for all the insight. Seems like it'll be nice and straightforward.
