Diesel exhaust fluid reset how to??

I've topped up the DEF and the warning is still showing that I'll have reduced engine power within 45kms.
Its weird, just yesterday it showed 550kms to empty so I added one full container, all day it kept showing less and less kms' til empty. Warning lights and bells etc.
This evening topped it completely and still shows. Is there a way to reset it without having to stop at the service dept.

The problem is you are filling it too soon. Let it run down more and then it will reset better.

As it stands now it may go away after a day or so.

In the information screen it should show full or 1/2. That is about it.

Normally it does show full or 1/2.
As it stands I'll be limited to 80 kms/hr in 45kms.
Can't let it get any lower, thats the reason it showed in the first place.

You may have to take it to get it reset then.

There have been a few that had that trouble and it ended up being a sensor.

I typically let mine get down so it will take almost 5 US gallons to fill it. I have not had any issues.

MY 2011 would take a few miles to reset after filling. My 2015 was as soon as I started it. Sounds like a bad sensor...

If you have a way to reset the computers with an OBDII reader that may work as well.

I have fixed a few issues with ForScan but running diagnostics.

Also - I handle the DEF a little different. I try to keep it topped off. I did just see a 1/2 full message and drove it a little longer so that I knew a 2.5 gal. jug would will it up. If it didn't reset it also gives me a lot of time to get to the dealer to have it reset.

It'll normally reset on it's own. At 500 MTE, you should be able to get at least 4 gal in there. I know I can fit five gal at 200 MTE. Mine resets in less than a mile. If you know it's full and you've driven it, the fact it's not resetting isn't normal and you'll have to get the dealer to fix it like senix mentioned.

On my 2011 I just have an "ok" indicator, there is no gauge showing how much I have in the tank. What am I missing?

You're not missing anything. It will either show "ok", "under half" or it will be counting down (when the level is below the bottom sensor).

My 2012 won't reset unless I fill it well over half full. One 2.5 gallon DEF container when near empty won't do it. I have also gone into the display section where you can check systems. When I asked it to check DEF level once, it reset. I don't know if that was coincidence, or it is what reset it.

Don't you wonder what in the heck the designers and engineers are thinking (if they are thinking) when they come up with sort of Mickey Mouse way of doing things?
I wonder if they ever read the forums and simply do understand what the customes like and dislike, what we want and don't want. Its not like it is a super secret that this system is pretty dang sorry and confusing to say the least.

It's really simple guys....... read the owners manual.

Those of you continuing to top off your DEF are going to run into this situation sooner or later where it will not reset the countdown.

Let it run down like it's supposed to and then fill it up. DEF is cheap, you can find it anywhere, and it's easy to fill back up.

and its not like the 500/800 mile warning doesn't give you enough time to react. everyone will have to stop before 500 miles.
