2000 F-250 4x4 XL V8 Hub Questions

Hi. I'm new here so if I seem a little stupid, I'm sorry. Also my first Ford product.

OK, I have a 2000 F-250 4x4 XL that has really bad front hub bearings. I cannot see any wires that would indicate 4 wheel ABS. I went to eBay to find a set and now I'm stuck. I can't figure out how to tell the hub flange size? Also, they indicate a different thread set.

What are the "threads" they are talking about?

What is the hub "flange"?

Thank you for ANY help!

I don't know what flange they talking about. I've not run into that question/problem when I've gotten my OEM replacement hubs. I'm not sure of the flange size but the threads are coarse and fine. They coarse threads are up to 2002 and then they switched over to fine threads (which are on my 2003).

Hi Brian. They said in an email that they are for 13MM hub flange and if I use them in one made for a 10MM it would make the brakes drag?

I've not had the flange issue as I think that they went from 10mm to 13mm during the 1999 model. I found this about the topic:

what kind of hubs?????? - Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum

You can go to a dealership and find out for sure. If I can't find it anywhere else I will go in for a price and availability check and the tell them I have to "talk to my wife" to get permission to buy them. Then I never go back and find the parts cheaper somewhere else.

Brian, thank you so much. Looks like I'm good to go with the course thread, non abs, 13MM with single rear wheel. Thank you VERY much for your help!

They are talking about the hub offset. The early 99's flange just barely sits in a different spot than the 2000 and up- just enough to be out of line with where the caliper brackets hold the caliper with early 99 rotors. The rotor also has a different offset. A lot of us early 99 owners go with the 2000+ hubs and then switch out our rotors to 2000+ as well, which brings everything back in line. It's been a couple years since I did mine, so I don't know the pricing these days, but back then the 99 hub assemblies were substantially more expensive than the 2000+, plus more places stocked the 2000+ parts.

The part number for Timken hub assemblies WITH ABS is 515021. Not sure for the part number without. And you're correct- there will be wiring down to the hub if it has ABS.

My F-250 looks like the one in the pic!
