1991 F250

Hello I am to new to FTE, I have a 1991 f250 4.9l zf5 4x4 regular cab Long bed. This is going to be my project truck. I also have a 1993 f150 4.9l M5OD regular cab long bed. My goal is to bring the F250 back to life using my f150 for parts. so the questions i have are. The F250 is currently stripped to the frame, the cab was shot and I took the flatbed off of it. The current 4.9l on the F250 was not running properly and i was unable to get it running correctly with the help of some of my mechanic buddies. After tearing the motor down to bare block I found some of the plugs on my wiring harness which connect to the fuel injectors were melted. I believe that was part of the problem. Also my parents are looking to buy myself a more fuel efficient truck like a ford ranger. I am still in High-School.

1.) Should everything just swap over? As in motor, cab, Bed?
2.) Should i tear the 93 down or just buy another engine and body?
3.) Am i crazy?

I'm looking foward to your guys input
Thanks,
CDavis9

I don't believe you'll have any problems moving the motor over from the F150 to the F250. However, you will find some slight variations in the cabs (and obviously the front clips) between the two since your F250 is a brick nose and your F150 is an OBS. With a little modification I don't think you'll have too much in the way of problems as far as that goes, especially if you're keeping the OBS front clip on the OBS cab.

However, where you may find yourself in a curious position is with registration and legal usage. As far as I understand it, the title (and therefore registration) follows the cab, not the frame. So, once you move your F150 cab over to your F250 frame, you legally only have a 1993 F150. However, the chassis and running gear are all from an F250, so physically it's still a 3/4 ton. I just don't know how all that will play out in regards to registration and what you'll legally be allowed to do with the truck (regardless of what it's physically able to do). Perhaps someone on here has personal experience with this scenario and can lend more insight?

In any case, good luck to you! Make sure you keep us posted on your progress if you move forward with the project. And also, we LOVE pics here on FTE! So, please, post up some pics!!

Stevaroo01, Thank you for your input i've heard that the steering column is slightly different but i'm not super worried about it. I am keeping the OBS front clip even though it was a brick nose the cab was shot so i removed it.
