Cam bearing "notch"

I've been tearing down my '88 engine and have it down to the bare block + have most of new bearings and parts in I'll be using (bearings are all Clevite).

I now have my new cam bearings and a new cam bearing tool. No instructions on how to use it so went to Youtube to research and saw something interesting in this video:

Go to the ~4:40 mark, and he talks about how he puts a little "V" in the outside of #1 bearing going forward to give a small amount of oil to the thrust plate and it makes it's way to the cam chain. I know this is a V8 vs our inline 6, but I am installing a Comp Cam gear drive setup and thought this is worth looking into.

Comments? I thought this was interesting and wondered if any of you have heard of this - not that I'm convinced this is a good thing to do.

I'm not to the point of installing yet; just driving out the ones that are in there and getting ready to pressure wash the block tomorrow most likely.
