id gear ratio dana 60

hi guys,

need help to identify the bear ratio of a dana 60.

it was made the 6-18-1996. there's no tag.

code on ring gear says: dana d 620093 P8L651 46 13

is that 46 13 the ratio?

here's a picture

Yup, 46/13 = 3.54, but it's "called" 3.55. Do you have access to the truck from which this axle came? If so, can you get the axle code from the door jamb sticker?

the person who sold it to me said it came off a 93 f350 but the date on the diff days 1996. it's all i know.

Well, you just divide 46 by 13....

Who knows, he or some PO might've swapped it. Or maybe he's guessing about the year of the truck. I would just trust the numbers on the ring gear.

hi guys,
thanks a lot for the help. just need a bit more info about the dana 60.
was inspecting the axle yesterday.
i noticed that the inter shaft seals are a bit old and dirty. i did my best to clean them as better as i could.
not sure if they still good. should i replace them? they'r the ones with a kind of guide sticking out.. don't want to put the d60 on and then had to change the seals.
if i do the job now it means i'll have to take the carrier out. don't know much about that stuff. would i be able to take it out and put it back in?
thanks

The carrier is very tight in the housing to get bearing preload. You're supposed to use a case spreader to relieve the pressure:

I've had good luck pointing a radiant heater at the open side of the housing and letting it thermally expand a little, then working the carrier out or back in...
Make sure you put the caps back in the same way they come out.

thanks for the picture.

just removed the carrier and inter shaft seals.

do you guys know a good way to remore the seal meta housing?
the manuale says to use a jet plus puller T77L-9533-B but i don't have anything like it.

i guess they need to be cleaned or replaced. missing a piece of the grey rubber too..
