It looks like my 99 Ranger needs a new pump. What pumps are you guys purchasing and having good luck with ? I've got to do a f/p test, but it tripped the CEL today, code reader says to rich on bank 1 and bank 2. My buddy instantly said fuel pump. Probably the cause of my bouncing idle as well.

 

Good idea to trouble shoot & perform a fuel pressure test before throwing a pump at the problem, as a number of things can cause that code.
Post up All trouble code Numbers you have.
Motorcraft & BWD fuel pumps have been spoken well of on this forum.

 

I wasn't going to just buy one yet, but everything seemed to point that way. That was until today. The local Ford dealer just did an oil change, and their xxx point inspection. They forgot to snap the air filter back on tight, just left it hanging there. Snapped it back on, no more bouncing idle...........

 

OK, good find & feedback. Think I'd make a trip over there & have a polite but professional talk with the Service Manager & personally demonstrate what you found.
