One thing great about this site is that you will get opinions all over the map, but we will support you as long as you have a safe truck and get it out on the road.
I'm a stock kind of guy, mainly born out of lack of skill. I also love seeing an unmolested truck.
Now, isn't this what true hot rodding is about? An average Joe building a car in his backyard with whatever he has available to him. Keeps up informed and post lots of pictures.

I love both stock and modfied and own both types of vehicles. As far a hot rodding goes, i would love to see a resto rod sporting an electric motor under the hood. I am sure it could be easily done as we have a big bed to hide the batteries under a false wood floor.
Plug it in and go....truly a modern conversion.

Here is their project page:

IIRC, they laid out the batteries in the engine comparment in a V8 shape. Not sure how this ended up.

Like said earlier, the wiring will be the biggest hurdle. At least with engines like the new 5.0 or ls engines, you can buy stand alone harnesses and computers so that you can by pass all the un-needed stuff. If you could find something similar for that engine, it would make the swap way easier.

If the idea seems cool to you, then do it. It's your truck. I'm sure it will be more complex than a swap that's been done 1,000 times, but the challenge would be part of the attraction if it were my truck. If you solve the wiring problems, you'll have something unique that looks stock until the hood goes up.
