Smile Question??

Not sure if I'm doing this right. Not familiar with forums, so let's try... I am tinking about purchasing a 2005 F-350 with 161K and a 6.0 ltr. Of course I have heard about the problems associated with the 6.0 but I have also read that with the miles that are on this one I am probably alright. I there anything that I can look for to make sure, or at least possibly make sure that it'll be hopefully OK? I know that that is a pretty vague question.. The truck seems to have been well taken care of, ie: inside and out pretty clean.. Thanks in advance for your input.. Look forward to any and all answers... Rick

there is a to written on this subject, both here, on the 6.0 section of this forum and on internet in general

i spent 2 weeks researching before i took the plunge (and negotiated $4K off asking price do to 6.0 issues)

for me the process involved doing "searches" on this SD and this 6.0 forum, googling 6.0 problems (which also take you to some of the 6.0 problem fixers web sites that have great info with in and videos), and having the truck checked at a dealer. i feel all these steps are a must because otherwise you won't know if you are going to be able to put a few thousand mikes on your truck before needing major work (like $3K to $8K), or just a routine oil and filter change (few hundred dollars)

6.0 has a deserved bad reputation, but thanks to the large numbers ( giving lots of exposure to problems, and a big incentive to find cures), they can be made reliable but not at what many would consider a low cost

Thanks!!

Thanks guys!! I'll be reading up on this a lot before I purchase. I'm in need of something strong, durable and reliable enough to pull a 14000# fifth wheel. Looks my homework is ready to do!! Thanks again for the responses!! Rick
