2008 F250 6.4 Oil Filrer O- ring

Does anyone have a good part number for a 2008 F250 6.4, oil filter "O" ring, or an parts house, that stocks them? Last week I had the oil changed, by a shop that accidently broke the O-ring installing the filter cap (no lubrication on the o-ring). I drove app 40 miles before the discovery, lost a gallon of oil, what a mess that made. I had to buy a new filter just for a O-ring. I now want to have a spare on hand, just incase.

Your best bet would be to find industrial hydraulic seal or hose repair facility in your area and have them match it up if you want a spare. Im not sure ford sells it separate its rare this o-ring is ever an issue.

1. Some dude put a bad o-ring on your truck!!!
2. I've done plenty of oil changes and they are very durable. No idea how it tore.
3. If you actually do tear one in a fit of rage ... just reuse the one you just took off.

Yes it's hard to mess up. from what I have checked and personal experience lack of lubrication on a O-ring, it can break. A shop did the oil change, so I couldn't personally supervise the install. For the heck of it ,called the dealer for a price and stock check. The price quoted was in excess of $ 16.00, a complete filter was $18.00

I would go back to them with the bill first off.

Now ..did they even use OEM filters? I would be scared that they didn't.

I am very picky about the parts going in the truck, Ford filters, Shell Rotella T-6 syndetic oil.
I provide all parts and fluids, shop supplies labor ! I did have a conversation about the replacement/repair cost of a 6.4 (at their expense)
I will have a spare o ring at next oil change (match foe front the oil filter set)
