Do us a favour and be careful driving your truck there JD, theres absolutely no weight on that rear axle and that's big time dangerous. You've seen those Van cabs on bare chassis, you can stand them on their nose at 30 mph if you hit the brakes while on ashphalt. Wait until you get a box on the frame and figure out you toyal weight before you start lowering the rear. Have fun with the truck while you can, just be careful, it's a lot worse than driving bobtailed on a rainy highway.
My plan is to use the front corners (about 42" worth) of the hood and put them on backwards, recurve the edge roll and tack on the front fenders on there normal sides and go from there. I want to follow the wheelwell shape to a certain degree to determine the fender shape. The first one will take a lot longer than the second one, will cause a lot more headaches. Will keep tri 5 fenders in mind.

It will be awhile before I get it on the road because the brake system is completely dry and Iv gotta go through the Carb.. Thank you for the caution as I have never driven a pickup without a bed!
Ill definitely be looking for those fenders to come together

400 - 4spd was standard issue for the 1 ton dually but the f350 srw came with a 351-c6 and a few other combo's. Thought you had a stubby, my 78 had the 160" wheelbase which is 1 of the reasons for the new frame. You usually got am radio only for a sound system, did you get the 2 green metal boxes with a flag and reflector also. If you got about 8 or so open acres you can put up some landscape flags and make a dirt track, it'll only take 10 laps or so to cut it in. I used to play in snow covered parking lots, figure skating with cubevans and shoebox trucks is a ball. Dump truck races in the lower acreage is a blast, just dont make a complicated track, ovals are just fine.

Iv slid my 99 power stroke around a few tines and it can be pretty hairy.. About like sliding a school bus

Them 80s fenders look to much like a slap on after thought. The tri 5 chevy fender has the start of the dent side cove and has the sloped wheel well opening. Why worry about weight, on a 1 ton weight is traction unlike a 250 or smaller. If you go to my threads Katy loses her box and the second part of Adventures in retirement you'll see what I did with 1/4" checker plate, 3/16 cold plate and 3/16 x 2 x 2 sq tube, oh yeah theres parts of Henry's frame on it. Get any rabbit eggs this easter, I got my paint, happy happy pappy.

I do favor the 70's dodge fenders, small and round..
That bed you built is a tank! I read your thread awhile back and that thing is stout

Thanx, All that plate and it barely registers on the suspension. The regular box was so light the azz end would step out real easy and I've only got a 390, had no snow traction at all. after seeing what the drunk did to my 79s box/cage, I'm going to add on 2 more mounting plates and put bolts into the plates that I welded on. The sidewalls on the box are about 14" high, haven't done full cost on it but my complete bumper to bumper redo is maybe $600 for everything, have 2 cost lists. Get to start painting it starting Thursday. Like your deck idea, trust me, look around for a parts truck that has a deck, ugly cabbed trucks are the cheapest and go up to 1999 on your search engine. Beat the crap out of the price and you'll start buying trucks at my prices, $325 - $600..

James, 6'10", man you better stretch that cab about 4 inches
Cool truck, signing in to follow along. I like the pipeline bed idea, it will look slick.
I also like the idea of not touching the paint job, and making your own more traditional flatbed, with a twist make it out of unprotected steel so it can catch up to the patina of your truck. You also mentioned being diesel powered potentially and the above picture has stacks incorporated into the headache rack portion.

I like a simple low flatbed with the tool box under like this truck
