6,472 F-Series Super Duty ambulance models from model years 2011-2015 are being recalled for a faulty EGT sensor that may fail to report a high-temperature condition in 6.7L Powerstroke diesel engines. No incidents have been reported.


Don't know the recall number yet.

 

Interesting that it says the sensor may fail to report the high temp condition instead of falsely reports one....

Going from one extreme to the other... I guess now we know where there are so many TEMP sensors...

 

"The company is taking this action because of the unique nature of ambulance and emergency vehicles. Affected vehicles were built at Kentucky Truck Plant, Feb. 22, 2010 to Feb. 1, 2015.
There are 6,322 vehicles in the United States, 96 in Canada and 54 in Mexico."


Dealers will update the software on affected vehicles at no cost to the customer.


I guess our life's don't matter that much to Ford in our daily drivers. and It's still only a software fix.

 

Dancing around a true fix I say.

 

Well, reportedly, Ford will not have a '17 Ambulance Package as I have said before, so now we will be the "heavy duty testers"!

 

From reading the recall notice at the link provided. Could it not simply be that the ambulance fleet vehicles are simply getting the same software update that so many of us have recently had performed?

One recall that I did not notice on the list was a recall that calls for having the door handle springs checked on the Taurus SHO. We just received our recall for this in the mail earlier today.

 

Any more, the only reason I get on here is to try to straighten out absolute CRAP! The link that is provided has wrong information. It is specifically for ambulance packages, and it has a different recall number (NOT THE ONE EVERYONE HAS BEEN DOING!)

 

What is different about an ambulance package then a truck without that package?

 

Easy answer, one idles excessively, one doesn't.

 

Sounds an awful lot like some of the employees at the local Harbor Freight retail store as the check out line goes to 13 customers deep.

 

So what!!

Ford has a major problem with the 6.7. Vehicles like ambulances appear to be more important to the OEM but we hope fixes trickle down to us '11-'15 SD owners and the underlying reason for these discussions.

If that's the only reason, and as you stated that you get on FTE......

 

that can be fixed very easily!
