Timing Chain

I have a 1999 Ford Ranger with a V6 3.0 engine. Does it have a timing chain or a belt?

The 3.0L Vulcan V6 has a timing Chain. A link to the 3.0L Tech Info page put together by member Rockledge that you'll likely find helpful. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-and-tips.html

Belts are usually recommended at 60-75k. We went 130k on one spec'd for 62k. I don't recommend it.

BUT, See above, the 3.0 is a chain, as is the 4.0 although there are 3 of them in that fine jewel.

4 cylinder Rangers might still have had belts.
