A buddy has a Supposed 360 D4TE block in a boat . He can't find a gasket to mount it properly .

The problem is the hole on the bottom left . This picture is inverted . He is going to make a gasket , but , wonders what engine he actually has . He would be grateful for any input , as I haven't a clue .

Would the hole I mentioned ( bottom left of picture ) Be for the dipstick tube on an automotive engine ? I have not seen this boat only the adaptor and this pic., But have seen a few of his other wooden boats . His adaptor is odd looking and also covers that hole . Thinking because of the severe tilt of the engine , the dipstick tube may have been relocated on the origonal set up . He is leaking oil badly from that hole .
Just thinking out loud .....

 

I can't believe no one has chimed in, yes that is for the dipstick...

 

Get some material and a small ball peen hammer and make up a few gaskets.
I have had several boats with FE's in them. Never a 360. Is he sure?
