2005 5.4 motor swap

I have an 05 250 146k

Motor failed last week, looking to find a used one to swap out. Anyone know which years will work or which ones won't before I start the hunt??

Thanks a lot!

Since it's an 05, that means it's a 5.4 3v triton. Pretty much any 2005 to 2010 3v triton long block will swap in, possibly even from an f150, though the accessory brackets on the front or oil filter/oil cooler or oil pan may be different.
But overal, if you just get the long block w heads and valve covers, install your old manifolds, new water pump, timing chains (if you want) it should be an easy swap.

I'm curious. What failed at 146k?

I haven't had time to pull it apart. Had cam phaser problems and sporadic bad valve noise for almost 30k. Truck starts but totally loses oil pressure after about 30 seconds then appears seized.

If you don't mind a little extra work, now would be a good time to upgrade to a 6.8l 3V.
