Windshield wipers on startup

Sometimes when I start my truck (maybe 2-3x per week) my windshield wipers will wipe one time randomly. They're not on and haven't been on for days.

Not a big deal and doesn't bother me too much, just curious if this happens to anyone else.

What year? Some of the newer ones may be rain (water) sensing. My wife has that on her Taurus; not sure if they have it on the trucks.

It's a 14 but no water sensor that I know of.

Only time it bothers me is if it does it right after I wash it.

I wonder if it is momentary low system voltage issue......

Say your starter is drawing to much current or the batteries are right on the edge.....but your truck fires so quickly you don't really notice....and for the few moments it takes for the alternator to kick in you system voltage drops down to 8 or 9 volts.....

I have lost the alternator twice in my truck and both times the windshield wipers came on when the battery voltage dropped down around 8vdc.

Just thinking out loud......

Hi folks,

If you're concerned, you can always have your dealer take a look. Don't want to make a special trip? Bring it up the next time you're in for a maintenance visit. If you decide to get your dealership involved, come back here and tell us how things went.

Crystal
