Anyone recommend some windshield wipers? I've had to replace mine twice in the last two years -- the most recent just three months ago, and they are already breaking down and leaving lines of water on the windshield!
I've had the same problem with stock and anco blades and have been doing some research. Seems like Bosch Micro Edge Excel's and Trico Teflon's are the blades of choice. Interestingly enough a lot of guys are going with 22" and 24" blades.
I usually get less than 6 months out of wiper blades. I installed teflon blades 2 months ago. They streaked for the first week, now they are working great. Too soon to tell, but I think these should outlast rubber blades by a wide margin.
I will never buy Anco blades again. I have had 3 different vehicles now that have never matched their specs. Most recently our 99 Expy. I went by the book and bought refills and when I got home had to turn right around and take them back.
So a little miffed I went to Autozone and got Bosch Micro Edge. I had already been using these on my other vehicle and like them quite a bit. The thing that gets me is that they seemingly no longer make refills for the Bosch line of blades. You have to buy the complete assembly each time you replace them.
Seems like a waste to me....especially since I know a bought Bosch refills before.....but no one carries them around here.
From: I'm lost somewhere in NJ -- can someone please find me?!?!?!?
Windshield Wiper recommendations?
I've had 'em all, and in my time I've burned through more wiper blades than I can remember. Anco's are garbage -- put them back in the **** of the bull the came out of! Bosch Micro Edge Excel and Trico Teflons are the tops -- I buy whichever one I can get my hands on at a good price. The local Costco/Price Club has been known to stock one or the other, and I basically pick up whatever they have in stock. Gotta' love that about Costco -- they don't carry the cheap crap; usually, only the best.
I installed the 22" Bosch Micro Edge Excel blades this past weekend and let me tell you these are awesome (so far). I was beginning to think that my windshield was defective because I was so used to looking through streaks with previous blades, but the Bosch blades work wonders.
As an added bonus, Pep Boys has a $10 gift card special right now if you buy two Bosch blades.
I didn't think two sets in two years was excessive.
I usually get Lexor at wal-mart, since they fit in the original frames without changing the spines. In the winter I get winter blades to keep the ice out.
I've had good luck with the pricey Bosch blades from Pep Boys. All scientific advances aside, cheap blades tend to "Squeak, skwook, skweek, skwook, ...." and don't remove H20 all that well. I don't expect more than 6 months out my blades - I don't mind paying a little bit extra for a clean wipe! (no dirty innuendo here )
I use those blades, as well as Rain-X, and it gets the job done.
