Hpop or No Hpop

I am working on an 2003 F-250 6.0l. The truck just died while driving. No restart. Plugged in my scan tool and I am not getting any High pressure oil. Is there anything other than the Hpop I should be looking at. I know it is a big job to replace the hpop so I don't want to overlook something simple. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your low pressure oil pump first. Make sure it's supplying oil to the hpop. Usually when you crank you should see the oil gauge needle move if it's working.

What scan tool are you using?

You mean while cranking, the hpop is zero? Or just not enough to fire? Does it restart once the oil cools down?

There is little to no pressure while cranking and I am not getting any low pressure indication on the oil pressure gauge.
Where can I find info on the low pressure system?

A massive HPO leak can cause low LPO

Easiest thing to do is remove the oil filter cap and crank the engine. Filter bowl should fill rather rapidly.

The lpop has a bypass valve that's simple to remove and check. But first, like Josh said, check your oil filter bowl. It should fill in about 5-6 seconds. Make sure you have the drain closed.
If it fills quickly, it might be time to air test the hpop system to check for leaks. Or a bad ipr valve.

The Filter bowl will fill up pretty quick even with the drain back left alone.

I checked the filter bowl and after running the starter for 5-6 seconds it did not fill the bowl. Sounds like I have a lpop problem. Where can one find info on this system/ I have searched and found little or nothing. Is the pump in the oil pan?

It looks like the oil pump is incorporated into the front engine cover. All I can find is the whole cover replacement for around $800. There must be an oil pump only replacement but I can't find one. Any help?

Next step is to check the LPOP relief valve. Located about 7:00 on the front cover.

I removed the relief valve and it seems fine. I am assuming the if there is no load on the spring and I can slide the valve out freely that it is good. I also used a magnet to check for debris inside the bore. It came out clean.

If the front cover is fine you can get replacement gerotor pieces for about $60 (last time I bought them). If you'll send me a PM I'll remember to get the part number for you when I get home
