In case y'all missed me UPDATE!

We've been havin a bit o fun with all this weather here in Tennessee, first the cold, then some snow, we lost power the other day, then it warmed up a bit and Friday night it started to rain'in a night. Course that rain got ta freezin an these big ole trees don't like that ice so bout 1 in the mornin the tree start a yellin and by 3 in the am the power lines they begin o snapin'. So we is outta power for goin on 36 hours now and the power company guys say it might be 2 or 3 more days, 75% of the folks in the 500sq mile county is out and the surroundin counties are in the same mess. I got the 15 yr old generator workin overtime and the wood stove is smokin away, so we'll be ok, I made the 20 mile run to town today and they aint lyin about the mess. I bet I saw at least 100 power poles and 1000 trees down. got a makeshift 8' wide path on the state highway to town. I'm piggybackin off the graddkids cellphone wifi, and that want last long, but I'll be back.

Gotta love it!! Ray's been having a lot of fun with the ice and trees also. Luckily, we were a little further north and got a ton of snow instead. Now we're dealing with a lot of flooding. Hang in there! It got down to about 21 below zero Friday morning. I've never seen it that cold here. Are you ready to move back north? LOL

Joe, you and Patti stay warm and safe. We've just got some snow, 7-8". Going to be cold again in the morning but nothing extreme like you all are dealing with.

I think this is the first time I've ever felt lucky to live in Wisconsin during the winter. We just have some cold temps, low single digits near zero and a few inches of snow. All you southern boys are going to have to start wintering in Wisconsin.

We heard that the plateau really got hammered with the ice. The Nashville area had it bad enough. We lost power for a while, but fortunately power was restored the same day.

Too often seems like Tennessee is not cold enough to get a good snow, so starts off with rain changing to sleet and after we get a good coat of ice......then it snows. I don't mind snow, but ice is a totally different animal. I had to put supports under my carport due to the heavy load of ice that accumulated on top. The girder section under it had bowed down 2''.

Wow, Joe, that appears to be worse than we had it here across the valley. We had more ice than snow. Local news kept saying how bad it was on your side. Our mess is about all gone except the clean up. Slight bit of snow hanging under the downed pines. Our power and internet now up and seems stable. Stay warm and safe. Don't overdo it on cleanup.

Stay warm and safe out there.

Well we kinda gave in, the road crews have finally cleared the main road mostly, but the power crews are nowhere in site. The have already declared that the schools will remain closed at least until Wednesday and I'm figuring we won't have power until at least Thursday. Lines and poles are down for more than 10 miles leading to the house and the power crews are still 15 miles from there.
So we loaded up the truck and headed to the nearest available hotel room in Cookeville (50 miles west) and plan to stay here till Wednesday. Heat, hot showers and internet!!!!!!!!!!!
