so my fuel pump and glow plugs and i think computer don't always turn on and i thot at first it was ignition but that wasn't it so now I'm thinking fuse box.. wen it doesn't work i can sometimes get it to work by hitting the steering wheel or fuse box... is the GEM located inside the fuse box

02 does not have a GEM. It was replaced by a VSS along with some other changes which include an updated, more advanced Gauge Cluster and Relay System which substitutes the majority of functions.

Both are controlled by a 5v Reference commanded by the PCM (ground side switched).

Perhaps there is a loose connection, chafed wire, defective or failing relay, or other anomaly which is causing the intermittent operation? That's where I would start. Both are controlled by the same System Voltage Circuit (12VDC). Therefore, that probability being the issue further indicates this assumption.

so your saying the fuse box is most likely not the problem??? i just changed my gauge cluster cause it completely stopped working after i let it sit for 5 weeks wen i was in Haiti.. it didn't fix the fuel pump issue tho and i had that prob before and after i changed the cluster

The Fuse Box is merely a path for the circuit to travel through. Now, that's not to say there couldn't be a loose connection in the Fuel Block. It's just unlikely. Rather the circuitry for the intermittent issue.

Later I will look up the schematic and post it for your reference when you do some poking around.

well I've had the fuse box apart before and there is a circuit board of somkind inside it.. its not like you can just trace a wire thru it..

I had a lot of problems with the fuse panel under the dash on my 99 F350 Diesel. I finally took it all apart and there are a lot of little copper jumpers between the front and back or top and bottom if you prefer of the fuse block. These were not making good contacts. I soldered them all and all my glitches went away.

ya well this is a little newer and it looks more like a computer panel between from and back sides... i really don't think i could fix it even if i knew where the prob was in it... I'm gonna check all wiring i can and if i don't find nuthing ill just change it i guess.. hope its not to expensive
