Injector Repair - Removing Oil and Fuel

I'm in the process of replacing the injector o-rings, and I'm wondering about how much oil drainage is too much. I removed the oil plugs on top of the head and let them drain for quite a while before removing the injectors. I actually worked front to back. Seemingly very little oil came out of any of the oil ports when I removed them. The back 2 did actually have quite a bit more. In all cases, I quickly shoved a rag down in the holes to absorb as much oil as possible. I also am changing the glow plugs too, and oil ran down those holes.

I tried to pump the oil out, but that's not as easy as it sounds, or perhaps there wasn't enough to pump out in the first place...???

Right now I'm content with just leaving the GP's out and turning the motor by hand to get as much out that way as possible. Do I really need to worry about the other small amount of oil that went into the hole?

Roll it over by hand like you did.then install the vc s with a couple bolts loosely. Then crank it over with the key. That's how most of us do it. Bill has a mity vac he puts down the hole and sucks the boul on the piston dry even...he is an over achiever lol

Install the valve covers with a bolt or 2 before turning the motor over by hand.
I have oil all over my shop from certain people (note: Employees) who just don't listen. It WILL make a mess with no valve covers.
