Don't do the doo

I like to wrap a plastic bag around it then finish unscrewing it. Someone said they use a 2 liter bottle with the top cut off but I never have any of those around.
I did have a five gallon jug of waste oil bust open in the bed once....ya that was a nice mess.

1. Don't put off investigating a shiny steering knuckle until tomorrow (which turns into over a year) as it's just going to cost more (inner oil seal, stub axle, u-joint, hub assembly, auto-locking hub, and all the o-rings and seals just because the $10 needle bearing dried up and let go inside the hub).
2. NEVER EVER EVER even think about getting under your truck held up by a floor jack without properly placed jackstands!!! I've never done this personally but my dad beat it into me so much as a youngster that the hair on my neck stands up just thinking about it to this day (almost 40 years later).

Oil in the filter... I have a solution:

I use a rectangular 10 gallon "mixing tub" from Home Depot when changing my oil. (Mixing tubs are used for mixing sheet rock mud or concrete or mortar, and can be found in the building supply section.) It's low and large enough to more than hold what I need to do, plus it covers the main drain pan, main flow filter, as well as my bypass filter locations without having to be moved around. Admittedly, it takes two people to "harvest" the oil from the tub into my 5-gallon transfer bucket (closed lid with a built-in pour spout), but it does simplify the dirtier part of the job under the truck.

Thanks for this idea! I'm going to Lowes tonight to find something similar.
(I can't do HD for so many reasons)

When installing the 42 pin connector in to the PCM be sure it is square to the plug before you push it in. Do not starts in at an angle, it can bend pins and introduce some head scratching.
I shorted my map signal to ground.......
Don't try to work around parts that that can be removed in an effort to save time. As an example you CAN replace the pressure line from the power steering pump without removing the air intake, DS battery/ tray and DS CAC tube but it takes about 15 minutes longer than just getting everything out of the way.......even in a parking lot at 4am.
