Thumbs up Moving on...

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here for the information, suggestions, and help. I've been absent on the boards for a while due to life getting in the way. My father-in-law passed, so my project took a rest while we were dealing with things. He was a great guy, a hot rodder, a race car driver, and a tinkerer. He left me his most recent project truck (not from the blue oval camp), so I'm reluctantly selling my Ford to keep his truck in the family. I live in the city (not suburbs, but full-on city) so room is at a premium, no room for a fourth vehicle.

Thanks for our pal oddfordjunkie trying to get me to keep both , I just dont have space or time. This site has got me to pick up my tools again, fix stuff that I would've normally taken to a shop, and given me inspiration to keep working on vehicles older than me just because they need to be saved. My son loves nothing more than riding with his dad in the "loud truck".

There is nothing remotely like this site for the bowtie camp, not even close (info, experience, comraderie). This is a truly valuable resource. Thanks again, I'll post an ad soon when I get pics loaded up.

Sorry to hear about the loss. I lost my grandfather early last year. He had a 49 GMC 5 window restored from the ground up with all sorts of custom touches. He decked it out in Budweiser gear. Bottle caps, door panel embroidery with the crown, the paint was the authentic red from the can. A very nice truck with modern commodities that made it his very own. After he passed my dad had no choice but to try to sell it. Luckily my aunt was able to scrape together enough to buy it and keep it in our family.

Be it a bowtie, blue oval, or an imported vehicle, it's special. If you run into issues don't be afraid to post here, we will help as much as possible.

Thanks guys. The truck that he left me was his last project. Its a 73 GMC single cab 1/2ton that was converted into a 1ton dually. I'm sure its the 1/2 ton frame, but all suspension and running gear are off the 1ton. It has a 454 and auto trans, dual tanks. The odd thing was the dually rear end either came off a factory flatbed, or an rv (heard both), and is narrower than a truck dually rear, so the duals only stick out about 3inches from the bed. The bed was slightly tubbed. Previous owner cut down some dually fenders and tacked them on.

My father in law got it right as his health declined, so he didnt do much to it. The funny thing is he got it right after he saw my F150 his last visit. He got back to CA and "got me a beater truck, too". I'm going to finish it for him. My last trips down there, we always looked at it & talked about it together. It was his pals race car hauler that got out of racing. The motor and trans were recently rebuilt, which is out of my scope of work. I'm just going to do to it what I was doing to my Ford...get it safe, get it comfortable, make it fun, get it one color, in that order. My brother in law just towed it up here from CA, and it arrived tonight.

The last time we spoke about it, he said "the most important thing about that truck is it'll roast all 4 of those rear motherfu&%ers like nothin'."

Life happens, I just delivered my 91 SuperCoupe to it's new owner last night, after doing the 5spd swap in it for HIM. Never wanted to get rid of that car but haven't had the money to put the 5sp in it but I'm losing my shop space in Marysville and that car was 1st on the chopping block as it's the least rare, the least valuable and entirely unsafe to put my little girl in.

There are Non-Ford sections of this site, just saying. But it wouldn't bother myself any if you just turn this into a build thread for the GM, would just request that some Ford parts make their way onto the truck. haha

At least post a link to the add for your Ford in the thread.

I think that just links to the page, not the post. It's in this forum's sales thread, #113. PM if any questions. I'll post some stuff on the new rig soon.

You could always drive it to the Meet on Saturday, I'd be happy to buy the Shop Manual set off you when you get there.

If I had "extra" money right now I'd buy your truck to flip it but we need to move... again.
