Hazard Flasher location on 1980 F-100
Hello, I'm new to this forum.
I'm looking for the location of the hazard flasher on my 1980 F-100 Ranger (full size). It shows in the Autozone wiring diagrams as a separate unit from the turn signal flasher. I can't find it. Can anyone tell me where it is?
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to FTE
The T/S flasher plugs into the fuse panel.
There's no parts catalog pic of the 4 way flasher, but if it's similar to 1973/79, it nestles into a bracket that is secured by one screw to the dash, adjacent to the instrument cluster.
Both of these flashers look the same and have two prongs, but the 4 way is a H/D flasher, has a louder CLICK.

Parts catalog pic (post 2) shows the T/S flasher plugging into the fuse panel. There's no pic of the 4 way flasher.
btw: My microfiche viewer died, so I cannot access the O-S-I and 1990/2001 truck catalogs until I can find another.
Where's Mr. Fixit when I need him? Colorado

Thank you all.
I've taken things apart and searched but still cannot find it. I've even taken the glove box out thinking it may be behind there, as is the buzzers for door/lights and seat belts. I looked behind the fuse box and didn't see anything, but I didn't pull it from the firewall. I'll check again. Let me describe my problem and see if you think it might be the flasher:
The 4-way flasher lights will not work at all. However, when I press on the brake pedal, they go on in all four corners. I understand the flashers are supposed to burn steady when the brake is pressed. I'm guessing the flasher unit is at fault. I have pulled the steering wheel, checked for power in several places, loosened the T/S switch (which does need a new actuator but is not related to the flashers as the turn signals work) and found there is no power to the 4-ways. There is power when the brake is pressed. So, I've figured it to be an open flasher that is "upstream" from the flasher switch on the column. Sound like a reasonable assumption?
Update: I have removed and checked behind the fuse box and it is not there. As much as I can see, it is not behind the dash. But, I can't see it all. I have seen flashers at the end of two wires just clipped to something, like the steering column in some cars. Believe me, I can't see it anywhere. We all agree there is a separate flasher somewhere. (Sometimes I understand the T/S flasher is used for the hazards, but not here apparently since some of you '80 owners found it). This is nerve racking.
Where is this elusive monster?
Thank you again.

Is there a socket for it in the back of the fuse box? If I remember correctly (I would go out to my truck and check, but it is raining), the hazard flasher is exactly behind the turn signal flasher on the reverse side of the box. Is it possible your hazard flasher is simply missing? I don't know what the behavior of the hazard lights would be if the flasher were removed and not replaced, but I wonder if that's what's going on here.

My truck is a 3/80 build.

My truck is an early build, AZ one-owner family truck (with unusual color combo). The paint on the driver's fender shows 10/10/79. Have pics of the truck on my profile. Anyhow, I'll look for the flasher. I don't think it's missing but dad had dubious people working on it. One "mechanic" even broke off the mount for the carb. I didn't see any provision for the flasher, except for the back side of the fuse box having slots where the wires go all over the place. I'll look again there and behind the dash with that in mind.
I do thank all of you for your help. This has been an experience.
Update: AND THE WINNER IS... Behind the fusebox! The two female blades are inconspicuous, unlike the "cutout" on the front for the T/S flasher. One would have to know they were looking for it there. The result is no power going to the flasher mechanism in the steering column. The brake light switch bypasses the flasher and puts 12v directly to the flasher switch, making it a constant "on." (That's so the brake lights go on, of course).
Thank you all for your help!
