OEM Fog Light Help

Sorry if these topics are out there....I did a search and found pages based on FOG LIGHTS but after scrolling through a few pages I came up empty.

How do you adjust the angle of the light housings? Mine appear to be way to high as I can see them lighting up the bushes and trees on the side of the road, but not the road surface itself. I want to tilt them down.

My driver side fog does not come on initially, but does come on with a light tap of the housing. Are these housings actually grounded or do the bulb sockets get + & - from the wire harness? Just trying to determine if I have a corroded connection/socket or a corroded ground on the housing.

Finally, does the bulb/socket simply pop out of the rear for changing or do I have to take the housing apart?

The bulbs pop out of the rear, but I would not describe it as simple. Especially if you have a front license plate. I ended up taking the grille out and getting at them that way to do a bulb swap.

Not sure about re-aiming, I think you might have to bend the brackets themselves to accomplish that.

Mine have 2 wires, case is not ground connection. They are mounted on brackets that screw into the bumper. I guess you could bend them to adjust direction. Is your bumper straight & level?

As far as I can tell the bumper is fine. On the bottom of the fog housing I see a screw/bolt that looks like it might provide adjustment and has to be accessed from the back? But I can't tell if that is it for sure.

Guess I should have checked YouTube first ;-) Just found this:

The lower screw that I am referring to is indeed a sprung adjusting screw. Accessed from the backside with a 10mm wrench. Guess I'll get some new brighter bulbs, clean up my connections and adjust all at once!

I do not have a front plate so I guess is should be fairly simple.

I just replaced my bulbs not too long ago (with some 9005 I think) and I had to remove the front license plate bracket. Once that was out of the way it was easy: however, getting it back on was a major PITA. I looked all over for the synthetic rivets and could not find any so I went to the local Ford dealer and they gave me five of them. Now the next issue, you can't find a rivet gun large enough to hold these as they are an uncommon size. I ended up holding the rivet in place with one tool and pulling the pin down with a pair of pliers and then snapping them off. As far as shinning on the sides of the roads, that is one of the nice things about them is that they do light up the sides of the roads, good for seeing little critters at night and helps to avoid hitting them

Synthetic rivets for what...the plate bracket? I'm confused on what you would need rivets for when replacing the bulbs.

I agree fogs are nice for lighting up the sides of the roads...however mine are not hitting any part of the road, they are up in the buses/trees which would **** off oncoming traffic ;-) I don't use them right now as they are useless.

The license plate bracket is held on with four large plastic rivets. The only way to get the bracket off is to pop the rivet and of course they are a unique size. If you don't require a front plate you won't have an issue. You can see the rivets in the above video as that guy pulled off the bracket at some point. The 9005 bulbs will greatly increase the output over OEM as the tip of the bulb is not obscured.

Yea that front plate is a butt pain, especially when doing the trans cooler upgrade. I wound up just using a couple of large sheet metal screws. Unfortunately Ca. is one of the few states that require a front plate.

Front plates are a major nuisance for show cars....so glad I live in Indiana for that aspect. I'll fight it kicking if they ever decide to implement it....at least on the toys. Daily driver or truck wouldn't bother me so much.
