Transfer shift pattern question.

Buddy got a 83 150 and his transfer shifts in this pattern he said. He said his 4x4 light corresponds to this.

From the dash n-4h-4l-2h to the seat

Can yall tell me anything about this? I always thought neutral was always between 4h and 4l.

Definitely not an original transfer case installed by Ford. I would say someone put the wrong shifter linkage on it but like you said the order is all wrong also.
