Well, A shop 2 towns over from me has aspiration of setting the record for horsepower from a 7.3. He has compound turbos and 80 psi or so manifold pressure. Cradle, ported heads, and a lot of mods. RWHP on his dyno is something like the 800-900 at about 1/2 boost. It has an issue lighting the turbo on the dyno for some reason, but if it lasts long enough to get a real dyno reading, I will post results. His truck is about a 2001 cclb 4x4 auto and on pavement it breaks the rear wheels loose at 45-50 mph and starts hoppng, pretty scary really.

youre going about this completely wrong.....
buy a tuner/chip, gauges (you can get a tuner with all sorts of gauges and diagnostic tools)....then address trans/fuel mods and your bank account before you can think about going any further.
custom heads would be so expensive that they wouldn't be worth the gains, and certainly wouldn't work miracles in power production unless you had tons of fueling which in and of itself is expensive.
