Squeaking Axle Bearings or U Joints?
So about a month and a half ago my rear axle seals on my 95 f150 4x4 with an 8.8 rear on it went bad. Lately I just haven't had the time to fix it, but I got all my seals, bearings and such. I also got new shoes and a rebuild kit plus the coupling seal.
Now initially there was no squeak from it, that is until recently. I've had to lock the truck in to 4wd a few times with all the snow we've encountered up here in the north recently.
After I started locking it in I've been having a slight squeak. I checked the rear for play on the u joints and didn't seem to find any. Now I did find A LOT on the front driveshaft by the transfer case.
I get the squeak while I'm in 2wd, so while I know I need to do something about that u joint, it couldn't be the one making the noise.
Ideas???

I don't know what it could possibly be other than possibly worn brakes? Or front my leaking axle seals.
