Mercury truck with ONE Piece windows...Cool truck with LOTS of fab
This link was brought up in another thread. I got to looking at all the pics and noticed this guy did one piece windows. I'm not seeing any detailed pics on what he did to compare to mine though. Tons of fab work on this truck and I'm SOOOO jealous I can't get one of those Mercury tail gates! Check out how he did the chassis with the crown vic. Thats how you get a cv swap low right there. Some great ideas in the pics. I'm not really digging the wheels though; maybe its the color.

4 years ago when I first bought my truck, I was considering one-piece side windows.
One Piece Products was advertising development of a one-piece door glass for Bumpside trucks, and even showed a prototype installed in a Bumpside truck.
Evidently, four years later, they are still just TALKING about doing it.
One Piece Products - Window Conversion Kits for Classic Cars and Trucks!
I guess it's good (for me) they didn't have the product ready for market. Not only is the conversion expensive (at least for the other vehicles they do offer the conversion for) I've had four years to think about this --or, re-think about this.
I think the vent windows are one the main features of these old trucks that gives it its character and removing it would take away part of that character.

Trust me, its nearly impossible to come up with a "kit" for these trucks. Unless you are willing to do some cutting and fab on the upper hinge pocket; it's just not feasible. I have thought about it and thought about it and just don't see a "bolt in" kit possible. And electric windows are a must. Yeah, I understand the whole vent window character thing. But is it really character when EVERY one of them has it?

Wow now that's some nice fab work put into that. Very similar frame/suspension notch that some rat rods get done to them. Oh how much this makes me want to start on my rat build. Ive seen similar with the CV but the frame was just shaved about 2-3" on the bottom side of the rails then restrengthened. I like this way better very clean looking and I'm a huge fan of dimples. I've been trying to get my hands on a mercury truck or tailgate for quite some time with no luck either.

At one time, I THOUGHT I wanted to do this on my truck. Now, I don't.

I'm more of a wing window type of guy I like having them open sometimes compared to the window being down. The one piece windows don't look bad in any way especially on a very clean built street truck. That's where they look like they belong in place on. Now to have them on a 4x4 truck I think it would look sorta out of place. Maybe it's just because anyone that knows these trucks know they had wing windows from factory and when you see one without them it boggles your mind some.

That's a cool build. I saved every pic to my computer for future reference.
I like how he stepped and then boxed the frame with plate including speed holes. I would have installed the custom crossmember nearer the radiator.
I also like the fact he kept the vertical parting line at the rear of the bed sides by pie-cutting and folding over the sheetmetal.
Also cool is the old-skool tonneau cover... aluminum frame and I figure the canvas is secured with Velcro (probably). I'm gonna have to copy that.
Given the custome inner fenders, I would have thought a custom core support would also have been fabricated.
A couple of questions...

A couple of questions...
- The guy machined/made some aluminum coil spring spacers in Pic#s 289 and 290. Was it too low?
- What is the fabricated part in Pic#292?

I didn't care for the wheels myself, and I don't know who in their right mind would do one piece side windows? Talk about ruin a truck.
Had you goin didn't I f100today I like the one piece glass.
I like the toolbox battery storage since that's what I was planning to do myself seeing it completed is a nice visual, I don't know why he put it on the driver side though? Mine will be on the passenger side.
