N.O.S 48/52 never used vin tags....
Guys, my buddy who died afew weeks ago, Left me what at one time he called N.O.S vin tags, He got back in the 50's I have 6 pairs of them, He told me he got them from a ford show room from the 50's that went under. He said back them the dealer would hand you the vin tags once you got a truck. The six pairs I have look like new, There arnt even any marks on the vin plates from the screws. Has anyone ever heard this before ? And is it fully ok to take them and try to get titles for them ? I know selling vin tags with titles can get in a big mess, But if they have never been titled, They should be clean ? I know the first F1 I had all I did was took the vin number to the S.O.S filled out a paper and got a title in my name for a whole $12.00. the gal working asked me what year I told her it was a 48, Shed titles it as a 48, Later found out it was a 49 from the vin tag. Went back and she told me it was so old, That they ddint care. My buddy did leave me a bill of sale for every vin tag and put my name on the bill of sale with a date and price.. I'll post pics later(posting from my phone)

Ross, I too was thinking the very same thing. I may just endup cutting them up. And same me the pain and such. I knew about the frame having to match the vin tag, But the gal at my S.O.S told me anymore so many people are making cars, they cant keep tract of them and she said no cop will crawl under a hot rod or old car to look at the vin stamped on the frame, Since half of them wouldn't even know where to look, She also said there are cars out there that are titled 1930's but are on a newer frame, wouldn't that title also have to be matched ? She said theres really not awhole they can do, And they don't even push it anymore. Just like having a full S10 frame with a titles 40's chevy body on it.

Yes they do. What would be interesting is if someone on here owned those VINs if in fact the tags you have are authentic. I'm with ya though I too wouldn't cross the line of legalities. The wall art though is a cool idea. Maybe a original piston as the center piece?

Ron, just so you know, these are NOT VIN numbers. VIN numbers did NOT exist before 1951 and the insurance companies cannot research these numbers.
