Body swap

Hi I have a 1974 F-250 4x4 that, while the body is in fairly decent shape, is so mix matched that it is going to a couple thousand to get adjusted right. I found a 1977 f-150 2x4 with a very solid body that I could purchase for a total body swap. My question for y'all is, will this body be a direct swap or are the frame widths different? Any help appreciated.

Frame widths are different... You've got a "Highboy".

I'm probably wrong but I always thought that the "highboys" extended part way through the 77' model year

yes you can put that body (f150) on your hb frame ,rear cab bolts have to be redrilled to bolt down ,no big deal ,,,now for the bed ,it will fit, again you will have to redrill the bed to adapt to hb frame ,,,,,done all the time research bed swaps for highboy and see how others have done it.I have a 79 2x4 cab on my hb

Thanks for the input. I'm not sure how to put pictures on the thread (maybe just the mobile site). I have a couple pictures in an album. The bed is a 78-79, can is from a '76 f-100 with the wiring hacked, fenders junk after markets put on by PO, hood from '75, inner fenders from who knows what. I'm not a body guy so getting everything lined up is seeming to be more than I can handle right now. The biggest issue is, nothing is right not even the cab, so I don't even know where to start. The cab has rust in the drip rails, doors openings and can corners and also has several dents. Bed isn't bad but has two dents and mild surface rust. Thought by swapping the bodies I could part out the current body and cover most of the cost.

So if I am understanding what I'm reading correctly, drill new holes through the cab to match up the rear mounts. The bed sounds like the trickiest to get dead right. Any info/pics on exactly where to drill the holes or special brackets that need to be made? I'm a proficient welder so it's nothing to fab something up if needed. Just want to get this right and done with so I can get it painted to my liking.
