Monroe Shocks or NOT

Looking to buy all around shocks for a 98 explorer sport . Truck is pretty much all original.
Looking for a comfortable ride, any tips greatly appreciated . THX.

I don't have any experience with Monroe on the Explorer. I bought the KYB Gas-A-Just for my '98. They were supposed to have "increased handling/performance", but they felt pretty much like the old OEM shocks. The front seems underdamped to me. I was hoping for something to firm up the ride more so they were a little disappointing to me. On top of that, the installation instructions for the front were wrong, which could lead to stripping the threads if you try to torque the nut to the value recommended by the factory service manual.
