Looking for seat frame for 51

I found a seat frame from a 53-56. Will this work on my 51?

No, too wide. Depending on what section of the world you're in, I may be able to help with the perimeter frame, seat and back.

This is the perfect example you guys should have your locations listed in your information box at the top of your posts. This type of item is expensive to ship but would probable be very cheap to buy. I'd bet half the guys on the board have a seat sitting in their stash or have chucked them out. Someone close by probably has one they let go for a pretty decent price, we just don't know where you're located.

Bob's right. I've got probably a half dozen of them laying around. I just don't have the heart to scrap them.

His profile says CO, but that's a big place. I'd darn near donate one to gain the shelf space in the barn. Except it would evict my pet mice that are no doubt real happy there. Stu

I used a late model dodge caravan rear seat but ended up widening it and raising the height of the back. I added 5" in width by sectioning the ends. I added 3" to the height of the back sectioning that too. It was a lot of work. Probably 6 or 8 hours in just resizing it alone.

Yes, but that really looks nice.

I've seen a few trucks with stock seats that had custom upholstery that really looked nice.

Hey 96,

If you find a frame and need to get some upholstery for it, I found that Raybuck was a good place to get one from.
The price was reasonable, the fit was good and the quality is decent.

Here is a picture of mine after I did the install myself...oh and you'll need a set of hog-ring pliers and a second set of hands to tension it while you do the fastener rings. But it wasn't difficult. Really rewarding when you finish.
Good luck finding a frame nearby to you...the guys on here will help you out.
Greyhound bus lines is a smart way to ship one to you if necessary. Hell, they can get three more paying passengers in the baggage bay.

Hey Tom, what colors are those for the tweed (warm tan, cold tan, tannette) and vinyl (tan, brown, briar brown, dark brown)?

Just located my record in the big box 'O paperwork I have.

The tweed is known as 'tan' (color code 41T) and the vinyl is 'tan' also (code 41V) according to the swatch sample they sent me. I bought the material about three years ago so it might be worthwhile for anyone interested to call Raybuck and ask for a sample collection. I remember they were very nice to deal with and sent me one in an envelope pretty quick.

The 'tannette' tweed is a few shades darker and the 'spice', both browns and briar brown vinyls are all quite a bit darker too than the tan.

If I ever have to do a seat frame again I'd go through them and would probably get the same colors. Lot's of ooh's and ahh's at the cruise nights and car shows when I have the door open.
It looks close enough to a factory seat style yet is much more comfortable. The vinyl is soft & supple almost to the point of being like 'rich corinthian leather'. (said with a Ricardo accent)

Thanks for the info. I like the color of your covers. I know they are good looking covers. I saw Old Dan's gray one in his truck a couple of years ago, and really liked it.

FYI, they're calling 41T Warm Tan now and the 41V is still called Tan.
