1985 ford bronco with new carburetor stalls out

I have an 85 with a new fuel pump, refurbished carb, and a lot of other repairs. Recently, she's been stalling out after red lights or stop signs. Most recently stalled out four times in one trip. Also has stalled out two times while make sharp left turns. Doesn't happen when I turn right, though.

I live in a big city and do not drive long distances, but I do let the engine warm up for five minutes before putting her into drive.

I've had the truck for almost two years and this is a new problem.

Any ideas?

i actually knew someone who had a similar problem. Turned out he installed the base gasket upside down and blocked a port.

The base gasket on the fuel pump? Bc that was replaced over as year ago. Could it be something from the new carb, which is just a few months old?

Gasket on the carb. Between base plate and main body.

ok so here's an update:

my mechanic says the gasket cap was on correctly and all that he did was adjust the carb.

he says when i turn, i put a lot of pressure on the valves, which can cause the truck to stall and i just have to goose it along by tapping on the accelerator when i feel it stalling. this doesn't exactly make me feel safe while i'm driving my truck, though. and i hoped the new carb would solve this problem.

he says it's still stalling out a little as he drives it, even though it's been adjusted several times, because it is so very cold outside.

i told a friend who knows a thing or two about trucks this news, and he says it's bull**** and my mechanic is just guessing/suggesting repairs waiting to see if something sticks.

thoughts? i really like my mechanic - he's been trustworthy and ethical on several occasions.

If he says when you turn you put alot of pressure on the valves he is full of the stuff that makes grass grow green. And I dont mean phosphorous, nitrogen, and ammonia

Does it stall when you take your foot off of gas? Or just randomly stall?

It stalls when I'm at a stop light or a red light for an extended period and then put my foot on the gas. I can actually feel the truck "slipping" like it's going to stall. If no one is in front of me, I can catch it and hit the accelerator really hard and get some gas into the engine, preventing a stall out.

my mechanic adjusted the carb, though, and the problem has been, for the most part, resolved. HOWEVER, it is VERY cold this winter, and I've read that the holley carburetor that I have has been known to stick in cold weather.

Are there any kits or solutions that can fix this problem so I can drive the truck in the winter?

Do you still have all of your emission stuff attached? Bring it to another shop, you mechanic is full of crap. Try a performance shop, they usually have more experience with carbs than a regular mechanic.

yup, i'll call around and maybe just take it to a Ford dealership. Might pay a little more, but I'd love to have someone who has a history of experience with old Broncos.

You should have a simple computer in your truck, and can pull codes to find out what's wrong with it.
