Awful sound local Ford cant figure out
206000 KM 2008 6.4 4x4 CC ULSD only, CJ-4 oil only ford parts only.
This just happened all of a sudden one day the truck started making this semi high pitched noise and has not gone away. Ford said its a not a mechanical issue I am not pulling any codes what so ever.
This sound comes from the passenger side "inside" the glove box around 1800 - 3000 RPM. As my speed and rpm increase the sound gets louder. I've removed the glove box looked around for anything loose but it sounds further back maybe closer to the fire wall corner.

Any help will be much appreciated.
Merry Christmas & Happy new year

a question;
will it make the same sound driving and working, as reving it up in the driveway in park?
Reason I ask, is that exhaust pressure will be way higher when in gear, so you should be able to find out if its exhaust related quickly.
If the sound is identical in park with no engine load, I suspect belts or something on the belt system.
If the sound is really different in park, I suspect an exhaust or turbo piping leak.
IMHO anyways.

The high pitched rattle was the first thing I noticed the day I installed my Banks 6 gun bundle. I posted a question about it describing it that way with no reply's. It has gotten progressively worse and is only evident under load. Recently I've noticed the start of the thumping sound from my airbox. It seems that's a rocker issue. Welcome to the too bad you have a 6.4 club.
If the issues some of us have were killing people the trucks would be recalled but because it's just the engine committing suicide once you are off warranty unfortunately the big blue oval really feels no responsibility for selling you a faulty product.
I know many of you are thinking I'm just a natural born complainer but I've run all three brands in Northern Canada for work and as a result have been a loyal Ford guy for many years. I found the GM's weak, the Dodges good but lacking support. I can understand there being issues with any machine but they really have failed to make the grade on service with this one.
