Success, finally
#18
Well it only took 3 feet to pop the adapter off. So I spent all day trying to track down a true reducer and finally located Gates 26392 but it will take a day. After that it will take a week to get the correct 2" hose from Green Sales. In the meantime I found a Gates flexible hose that fits in ID and length to put on. Unfortunately the trucks temp started to rise once again unlike previous driveway runs. It then started to send pressured steam and hot water out the hose fitting at the T-stat housing.
So I will try one more thing and if it doesn't solve the temperature problem then I will put the truck up for the year since there is no way I could drive it confidently for more than 10 minutes. At this point I'll wish everyone to have a good 2015.

How soul destroying that is! I feel for you. Hope your new hose combination works out. When I put an '87 5.0 engine into my '66 Mustang, I couldn't find a top radiator hose that would fit properly, the new engine having a reverse rotation water pump which caused me to have to have my radiator modified, and I wouldn't use one of those ugly accordian jobs either. I found two standard hoses that would work on either end and had a brass tube spacer made up to fit between them, using standard hose clamps. It's worked for me so far (about 15 years). Good luck.
