2004 PCM 2005 eng. and trans P0488

I have a 2004 F250 6.0 and I installed a 2005 6.0 engine and trans with 2005 wiring harness. I got a good deal on the truck due to a bad engine. I bought a 2005 engine and trans and I didn't have a chance to get the 2005 PCM. I'm running my 2004 PCM 4C3A and I keep getting a P0488 code, EGR throttle plate position. Well my 2005 engine does not have a throttle plate in the elbow because Ford realized it was not necessary and deleted it in 2005, but my PCM does not know that. I tried a EGR delete with my SCT to no avail. I don't know if I should get a 2005 PCM and if so witch part number. Can I get my computer updated at Ford or can I get a program writer write a program deleting the EGRTP. I've been banging my head trying to figure this out. I would welcome any help.

I wouldn't worry about it...I get that code also when I pull the butterfly valve out on my 04. Many here have said that it doesn't change how the engine or other systems function. I guess if your really worried about it and want the code to go away on the cheap you could extend the harness to the butterfly valve (if you still have it) and just zip tie it somewhere out of the way so the pcm thinks it's still there...kind of like how people remove the egr valve and leave it plugged in sitting on top of the motor when a block off plate is being used.

I wonder if a PHP pcm rollback would make this code go away also...

The annoying part of leaving as is, you always have check engine light on.

I have the 2005 engine harness and I had to buy a 2005 trans harness ($700.00) so the tranny would shift right. No plug on the 2005. I would think that the 2004 PCM would not work, but I pulled it out last night to double check and its a 2004. I have a check engine light on and I pulled the codes and it has one code it the P0488. I need to get is smogged within 30 days. Truck runs great. I'm going out to double check it again tonight. thanks guys

Well slap my mouth and call me Sally...wouldn't have though it would throw a light. The only other thing I'm wondering is what are to using to scan for codes. Some scanners are notorious for not picking everything up so I'm wondering if you have something else giving you your cel

I'm using a SCT 3015 which I'm having a hard time downloading the software to update the scanner. I'm calling tech dept tomorrow. I did scan it last night and it threw the 488 code again.
