Moving On

I want to thank everyone who has helped me, provided information, given me ideas or just simply offered opinions while I was a 6.4 owner. I gained a great deal of knowledge from you folks that helped me immensely during the years of my 6.4 ownership and for that I am truly grateful. Today I traded my last 6.4 and have gone from a half and half to a full on 6.7 owner. No regrets, loved my 6.4's its just time to be moving on.

Be sure to check back from time to time, because sometimes we'll need advice from the experienced guys!

I will lurk around and throw my 2 cents out there from time to time. This site is all about people who love FORD trucks helping each other with problems, sharing ideas, giving advice and opinions no matter what truck they currently drive. It is a well full of knowledge and experience.

There are pluses and minuses to each.

I loved the engine braking and the transmission shifting of the 6.4.

I liked the bigger turbos for the Rockies.

I like the extra gearing in the 6.7 and the refined regens.

I agree with you Scott. However, for me there are more pluses than minuses. Initial Lag, Regens, fuel mileage and huge unexplained smoke farts from the exhaust pipe would be my biggest 6.4 complaints.

I have not towed with the 2015 yet but I anxiously await the testing of the exhaust brake feature.

Turbo lag, fuel mileage, regen's, smoke, these all sound unfamiliar to me???

If you are tuned these problems are not a concern. However, I for one didn't go that route because the warranty is just to important to me. I do a lot of heavy towing. If I break down I call roadside assistance and have the truck hauled to the nearest dealership and it's FORD's expense to repair. I just could not give that up.

I tuned but used the banks 6 gun with a iQ for monitoring and tuning.

It was a DPF on clean tune. Worked great for me.

But I always towed in stock power >10K.
