PHP Hydra Questions

I have been looking at tuners/programmers and looking at the PHP Hydra, downloaded the software just to take a look. There is a Read ECU tab does that read and store your stock ECU and can that give you the PCM code and associated numbers etc. that should be on the PCM connector housing...my sticker is not readable, that's why I'm asking.

Secondly The PHP store list Green and Red LED display. No one else that I can see offers these choices....I've read someone had a beta in green but could not see in daylight, wondering if this is still the same or if it has changed?
I would kinda like to keep all displays uniform, but I do need to be able to read the display.

Last I heard there was only red but that might have changed.

Yes it will give you the numbers on the outside sticker.

I had a 6 pos chip. I did not really want the hydra but got it for free. I like it a lot now. I just wish there was a better mount, hidden or built in, for the switch. The plug is on the bottom which makes it hard to hide.

Funny you posted this. I was going to start a thread about the Cyclops and if anyone is using it.

What are your thoughts?

What pwrs the unit, the ribbon cable from the chip? They don't show much on the website and the unit appears to have a separate power connector. Thx

On a Hydra chip it is powered by the chip. Unplug your switch, plug in the Cyclops... On a TS chip you have to provide a key on power.

Not sure on the DP chips, pretty sure its powered by the chip as well.

Get a JMS mount from DP. A few minutes with a file and the Hydra fits it fine. Search my old posts for a pic.

That said, I went from DP to Hydra and back to DP. That, too, is chronicled in an old post.

Guess I have been out of the loop. That's interesting . I don't think the phone would allow me to switch quick enough. I often switch at a stop light and my phone is usually in my pocket but that is neat

I've had adventures with Bluetooth in both my vehicles. After those adventures, I have opted out of sending any form of signal to the vehicle via wireless. I stick with wired for that duty.

20+k running the Cyclops without issue.

No real way it can hurt anything.

As for changing... Takes seconds to click the app, connect and change tunes.

My phone is most times in the cupholder, or in the docking station...

Seconds if you have the phone out and the app pulled up. My switch is already on within reach.
To each his own. It is a neat gizmo.

Grab phone, touch cyclops, switch settings, put phone down...

Longer then touching a switch, sure... But not the hours your making it out to be.

Not to mention no one can jump in my truck and change settings. If I put it in the high idle dead peddle setting your not driving my truck off. Put it in no start, good luck moving it...

Love not having a switch anymore!

Just finished the Hydra Install everything went well. Only have a dozen questions. First to <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="6" cellpadding="0"><tbody><tr><td class="alt2"></td><td nowrap="nowrap">Gaugepro: The mount that you have in your picture for the switch is that a, "DP-F5 SW Mount" from DP tuner?
next is for.

<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="6" cellpadding="0"><tbody><tr><td class="alt2"></td><td nowrap="nowrap">ScaldedDog: I searched half of the first 28 pages of sub pages of post and did not find the pic. I'm trying not to modify (cut into) the stock interior. but DP's pic of thiers does look nice. Is the hydra the same fit?

Anyone else have a good mounting solution ( doing the sticky tape at the moment)...I would love to see pics of them.

The Cyclops would be ideal but cant swing another $169 right now!
Thanks
