the dreaded OD light flashing ( again )
#16
I can't imagine a way that a short could cause a code 62.
You certainly can do that. You could also do it the easy way, just put a piece of electrical tape over the light.
It will have all four gears with the switch unplugged.
The negative effect is that the problem is still there whether or not the light is plugged in and flashing. If the problem is ignored long enough it usually results in a dead transmission.

Well this might be the end of the line for me and my f250... I just don't have any more money to put into it and I am starting training for my job Monday and Tuesday... I am most likely trading my truck for a 2001 ranger 4x4 117k 4.0L.. the abs light comes on occasionally but I figure this truck will be a lot more practical for a daily driver commuter. I don't want to get rid of it but I have no choice unfortunately... I will get either another IDI or a 90s powerstroke when I have the money, which will be more of a project vehicle... I won't get sold down the road next time I buy one either. I was naïve when I bought it, and unexperienced with diesels...
