Welding help in northwest illinois

Anybody live near rockford, il that can offer Welding assistance for body panels? I attempted to try welding one but don't feel I'm doing it right and don't want to mess my panels up.

I'm looking for someone that I can help (cutting, grinding, another set of hands) weld my panels so that I can get some experience and since I want to do as much of this project as possible. I called some local shops and they won't allow me to be in the shop so figured I would see if someone on the forums could help out.

Thanks
Mike

Put your location in your sig under the User CP thing.
Maybe someone close to you. Than make an offer they
can't refuse. Like BBQ and beer and girls and like that Bud.
Is it worth Prime Rib and shrimp? Woo Hoo on my way.

Gas Grass or ***, Nobody rides for free.

Just sayin.
Ax's threads are spot on. Practice, Practice and more Practice.
He has put a lot of time into his tutorials. Well worth the read
if ya can find them.
Links anyone? I can't find them.

I don't know why m location shows n/a. I have I entered in the profile page but it won't show on the main page, I'll have to figure it out when I fire the laptop up since my iPod isn't user friendly except for reading posts.

I have read ax's tutorial and learned a ton about welding but I just can't seem to get the speed and length of time down as I blow through the metal cause its too hot or it doesn't penetrate enough. I keep practicing but I'm more of a visual learner.

Definitely something you should read. You can learn to weld too!
