Explorer Transmission cooler lines

So my 98 Explorer recently had a new motor installed only to find out my transmission cooler line is leaking. What is the best and easiest way to replace/repair it? And if I chose to replace it, I need to drain the transmission first right?
Also any recommendations for dealing with old gas? My Explorer sat for a year with a half tank of gas in it before I was able to get a new motor.
Thanks in advance for the help.

i just did the transmission cooler lines on my f350, they are going to be very similar. instead of buying the expensive pre bent lines I just bought a 25 foot roll of 3/8 tubing and bent it and flared the ends myself. you do not need to drain the transmission, less than half a quart will leak out when you disconnect the lines. I would definitely recommend replacing both while down there, once one goes so will the other. As for the old gas just get some lucas gas treatment and put it in the tank and youll be good to go. let me know if you have any questions
