Dixie's pic above shows the areas of concern, and the worst of your pitting isn't in an area of concern.

The black where the inner bearing runs MIGHT be an issue, but as long as it's reasonably smooth that should be fine too.

And keep in mind that the bearings don't run on those surfaces. It's just where the ID of the bearing inner race sits. You don't want any gross problems there that might cause weird loading on the race, but little flaws there aren't such an issue. The only place that needs to be SMOOTH is where the seal runs.

Does the black where the inner bearing rides look like heat damage to you?

No. Steel turns blue when it gets hot, not black. That looks like old grease. Just like rla and the rest of us said, quit worrying so much.

Clean it up, pack your bearings, put it together, and go enjoy your truck.

If you already took it all appart you should have noticed how it works, dixie is spot-on, and the explained image is just great, repack the bearings, thin layer on everything else, be on your merry way.
