Security system in the cold

Security system in the cold
We have a 2007 Ranger. When the temps hit 32 degrees F or below, the truck won't start. The security system light comes on. We have to run through the security system reset process, sometimes a few times, before it will start. Afraid all this key turning is going to burn out the ignition. Don't have a lot of confidence in my Ford dealer as they replaced the brakes and put the shims in wrong. Local mechanic says it's probably electrical. Is there anyway to bypass the security system or can it be removed?

Welcome to FTE.
Before condemning the security system, perform, or have your favorite auto parts store perform a no cost in vehicle electrical system check up with their portable tester, to make sure the alternator output is right & battery charge level & its cold cranking amps are up to snuff & the battery cable connections are clean, bright & tight, as low/weak vehicle battery voltage can cause the security system to act out.
If the battery charge is down & it has removable cell caps, check to make sure the cells have the proper level of fluid & top up with Distilled water if need be & put the battery on a slow, say 4-6 amp overnight charge with your automatic battery charger, before having the store do the battery electrical test.
If the remote entry/FOB battery voltage is weak, it can cause the system to act out too, so check the remote battery voltage, or consider replacing its battery, if its been a long time, or never been done.
If you have an ELM scan tool, plug it in, download FORScan as mentioned here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-scantool.html & have it scan all the vehicle computer/controllers for trouble code clues & post All code Numbers, as they can provide good trouble shooting info & in this case could likely pay for itself in this one trouble shoot & repair.
Some thoughts for consideration, let us know how it goes.
