power cut

hello everyone, 96 f150 5.0. Ive been having a reoccurring problem were I will be cruising down the road and all of a sudden the truck will just cut power for a split second then return to normal. It throws no engine codes when this happens. It feels as if the governor will kick on at inappropriate times. Im leaning towards a faulty sensor but which sensor could it be? Possibly the vss sensor (speed/abs) located on the rear? Or someone else suggested the ICM? could anyone point me in the right direction to diagnose this problem. Thank you, Dave

I had this happen once to me. I noticed that my tach was dropping to zero when it would cut out. This lead me to the primary ignition circuit. I ended up replacing the ignition module on the side of the distributor. Reset the timing and all was well.

I have not taken notice to the rpms due to the fact that it happens so quick but I will look into that sensor as a possible suspect

The connections to the coil are known to corrode or stop making good contact to the coil posts. Could be a simple fix by squeezing the connector blades with a pair of pliers.

I will try that, its just very hard to tell if its a fix or not because it happens whenever it wants to
